CAN 2023: Discover Tanzania’s list for the tournament, without Ulimwengu or Samatta
The 2023 African Cup of Nations (CAN) is fast approaching and the national teams are actively preparing for this major event in African football. Tanzania, which will participate in its third CAN in its history, has just revealed its list of players selected by coach Adel Amrouche. A list which reserves some surprises, notably the absence of Thomas Ulimwengu and Bwana Ali Samatta.
Among the 25 players called up by Tanzania, we find some emblematic figures of the national team. Simon Msuva, talented striker and star of the team, is among the players selected. His presence will certainly be a major asset for Tanzania during the competition.
However, some notable absences also mark this list. Thomas Ulimwengu, experienced striker and Tanzanian international, is not one of the players selected. His non-selection might come as a surprise to fans and observers, as Ulimwengu has been a key part of the national team in the past. Similarly, Bwana Ali Samatta, another experienced player and former captain of the team, was also left out.
Coach Adel Amrouche explained his choices by citing tactical considerations and the desire to give a chance to new talents. He stressed the importance of renewing the squad and allowing young players to prove themselves at this level of competition.
Other players selected include well-known names such as Kwesi Kawawa, Beno Kakolanya and Aishi Manula in the cages. In defense, players like Israel Mwenda, Mohamed Hussein and Bakari Mwamnyeto will be part of the squad. In midfield, players like Yusuf Kagoma, Mzamiru Yassin and Roberto Yohana have also been retained. Finally, the young striker Kibu Dennis, promising and on the rise, completes this list.
Tanzania will play in Group F of CAN 2023, alongside the DRC, Morocco and Zambia. It will be a tough group and Tanzania will have to give their best to hope to qualify for the knockout stages.
In conclusion, Tanzania’s list for CAN 2023 has some surprises in store for us with the absence of experienced players Ulimwengu and Samatta. Coach Amrouche is banking on young talents and hopes to be able to create a surprise during the competition. See you next January to see how the Tanzanian team will behave on the CAN grounds.
