“Nigerian films: record box office success in 2023!”

Nigerian films continue to make a splash at the box office in 2023. The latest record comes from the film “The Feature” directed by Funke Akindele, which was a huge success last December. Between December 29 and 31, the film grossed N172.2 million, an increase of 58% from the previous week. In total, “The Feature” grossed N854,284,939, making it the highest-grossing Nigerian film of all time.

But success is not limited to local productions. Coming in second place is Warner Bros’ ‘Aquaman and The Lost Kingdom’, which grossed N67 million last weekend. This shows that Nigerian audiences are also attracted to renowned international films.

Toyin Abraham’s film “Malaika” ranks third, grossing N38.5 million last weekend. This film is also scheduled to have an international launch in the United Kingdom on Friday January 5, 2023.

Other Nigerian films were also successful, such as Mercy Aigbe’s “Ada Omo Daddy”, which grossed a total of N133,663,236, and “Afamefuna” with a total gross of N51,764,600.

In conclusion, the Nigerian film industry continues to thrive with films that appeal to large audiences. Whether local productions or international films, Nigerian audiences are passionate about cinema and record revenues are proof of this.
