Election results without violence: CRONGD’s call for appeasement
While the gradual publication of the election results is causing great tensions, the Regional Council of Non-Governmental Development Organizations (CRONGD) calls for the responsibility of political actors and the population in order to avoid any recourse to violence.
In a statement in Kananga, Albert Kyungu, provincial executive secretary of CRONGD, stressed the importance of preserving peace and serenity during this crucial period for democracy. He recalled that despite the logistical problems encountered by the Independent National Electoral Commission (CENI), political actors who engaged in the electoral process should accept the result of their work with dignity.
CRONGD also encourages those who feel wronged to assert their rights peacefully and through the competent institutions, without resorting to violence which would only aggravate the tensions already present. Since democracy is based on respect for rules and institutions, it is essential that everyone demonstrates maturity and responsibility in order to preserve stability and harmony in the country.
This call from CRONGD resonates as a voice of reason in an electoral context often marked by tensions and confrontations. He recalls the importance of prioritizing dialogue and respect for democratic rules to resolve disputes and build a better future for all citizens.
In conclusion, it is crucial that political actors and the population exercise restraint and patience during the period of publication of election results. CRONGD’s call for appeasement aims to promote democracy, peace and stability in the country, while allowing voices to be expressed and grievances to be heard in a peaceful and legal manner.
