The Ogun Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has announced that two persons lost their lives and eight others were injured in a two-vehicle accident on Idiroko-Ota road on Sunday evening.
The Area Commander of FRSC in Ogun, Mr. Anthony Uga, who confirmed the incident to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Monday in Ota, said the accident occurred at around 8:00 p.m.
Uga said the accident involved a MAN diesel truck with registration number LSR 10 YD and a Toyota Carina without a registration number.
He said ten people, including five adult men, four adult women and a girl child, were involved in the unfortunate accident.
The sector commander said the two vehicles collided head-on due to illegal overtaking, resulting in the death of two adult men while eight others were injured.
“The survivors were taken to Idiroko General Hospital for treatment while the bodies were taken away by their families,” he said.
Uga said the vehicles were towed off the road by FRSC personnel to ease traffic flow in the area.
The FRSC chief warned motorists against illegal overtaking and asked them to reduce their speed to reduce tragedies during the festive period.
He also urged them to have a clear vision of 150 to 200 meters at night and to control their speed before overtaking.
By ensuring we always follow the driving rules, we can help prevent such accidents and keep everyone safe on our roads.
