“Raising awareness for inclusion: KABITSHI fights against begging and in favor of disabled people in Kinshasa”

Raising awareness for people living with disabilities was the center of attention on December 4, 2023 in Assoso, in the commune of Kasavubu, thanks to the KABITSHI association. Under the theme “United in action to remove disabled people from begging in the city of Kinshasa and in the DRC”, this campaign helped to highlight the difficulties faced by disabled people and to find solutions for them. help.

The awareness day began with a prayer, symbolizing the importance of entrusting this cause to a higher force. The general secretary of the association then took the floor to explain the objective of the meeting, which was to create a space for exchange with people with disabilities, in order to understand their needs and work together to find concrete solutions.

During the speeches, blind people expressed their gratitude to the organizers and shared the difficulties they face on a daily basis. They particularly highlighted the difficulties of access to education for their children and the lack of consideration they receive in the Democratic Republic of Congo. However, despite these challenges, they expressed their hope to see changes happening thanks to KABITSHI’s commitment.

The association reassured people with disabilities of its support and determination to make their voices heard by the competent authorities. This awareness day is part of the commemoration of the International Day of People with Disabilities, celebrated every December 3.
