Intox: a doctored video depicts a false testimony of a nurse at Al-Chifa hospital in Gaza
Since November 11, a viral video has been circulating on social networks, featuring a woman presenting herself as a nurse at Al-Chifa hospital in Gaza. In this video, she denounces Hamas’ occupation of the health center, saying that the organization requisitions the gasoline and medicines needed by patients.
However, several elements suggest that this video is fake and that the nurse’s testimony is false. First, the addition of explosion sounds to the edit was detected by digital analysis experts. Indeed, the explosion sounds present in the video have a striking similarity, suggesting that they were added artificially.
Additionally, some visual details raise doubts about the authenticity of the video. The person’s accent when speaking Arabic does not match that of a native speaker from Gaza, and his red-colored stethoscope does not conform to typical standards. In addition, an Observer who stayed several weeks at Al-Chifa hospital claims to have never met this person, which reinforces suspicions of staging.
It is important to question the veracity of information circulating on the internet, especially when it comes from potentially biased or questionable sources. In this case, it appears that the video was fabricated with the aim of spreading false information about the situation in Gaza.
As consumers of information, it is essential to be vigilant and verify the credibility of sources before sharing content on social media. When in doubt, it is best to refrain from disseminating potentially false or manipulated information.
The internet offers a wealth of resources and information, but it is our responsibility to select those that are reliable and based on proven facts. In the absence of vigilance, we run the risk of spreading misinformation which can have harmful consequences on the perception and understanding of current events.
