Attack on a humanitarian convoy in the territory of Fizi: call for the continuation of humanitarian activities

The administrator of the Fizi territory, Samy Kalonji Badibanga, launched an appeal this Tuesday, November 14, to humanitarian actors to continue their activities in favor of the population. He assured to take all necessary measures to ensure the safety of all. This call follows an attack on a humanitarian convoy on Monday in Mukera Itota in Fizi territory.

The attack led to the destruction of three vehicles in the convoy and the taking hostage of several people, who were however later released. The kidnappers also stole phones, work materials and money belonging to the victims.

This is the second time that this type of incident has occurred in the same place, which has sparked condemnation from the administrator as well as the local civilian protection network (RLPC) in Uvira and Fizi. The RLPC moderator called on the security forces to redouble their efforts to ensure the protection of civilians and asked the population to cooperate with the security forces.
