N’djili international airport in the DRC: a modernization project without job cuts, confirms the Milvest group.

N’djili international airport, located in the Democratic Republic of Congo, is currently generating noise and questions about its modernization and rehabilitation project. Many people fear job losses with this transformation. However, Turhan Mildon, Chairman of the Milvest group, recently went to meet the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Airways Authority (RVA) in order to dispel all misunderstandings.

During this meeting, Turhan Mildon reassured RVA agents by affirming that no job cuts were planned as part of the airport modernization project. On the contrary, the agents will benefit from capacity building training to best ensure their mission of security of Congolese airspace.

The N’djili airport modernization project, with an estimated cost of US$1.2 billion, has also raised concerns about the management of airport fees. Some union representatives believe that all revenues will be allocated solely to the Milvest group. However, the CEO of the Turkish company denied these reports, specifying that all royalties collected would be distributed between the government, the RVA and all other stakeholders.

In addition to modernizing the airport, the Milvest group will also have the mission of enabling the Congolese national fleet to fly to international routes and removing the Democratic Republic of Congo from the black list. This would open up new opportunities for the country, particularly in the skies of the Schengen area.

It is important to emphasize that the draft Concession Agreement for the modernization of the airport was transmitted to the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the RVA for examination. A working committee has been set up to study this report and a meeting of the Board of Directors is scheduled for November 17, 2023.

Milvest, a subsidiary of Miller Holding, is a Turkish company present in the Democratic Republic of Congo since 2021. It is committed to providing superior quality products and services in all its projects. In addition to the modernization of N’djili airport, Milvest is also preparing to deliver the Kinshasa Financial Center, one of the largest in Central Africa, to the Congolese government.

In conclusion, despite the noise and questions surrounding the project to modernize the N’djili international airport in the DRC, Turhan Mildon, Chairman of the Milvest group, wanted to reassure on the absence of job cuts and on the equitable distribution of airport fees. This project, worth $1.2 billion, offers great development opportunities for the Democratic Republic of Congo and will strengthen the country’s air connectivity on an international scale.
