Security in Banande-Kainama: an urgent concern during the electoral period

Security in the Banande-Kainama groupement, located in the Beni territory in North Kivu, has become a major concern for the local population. In recent days, attacks and ambushes perpetrated by ADF rebels have caused panic among residents. Faced with this alarming situation, civil society in Banande-Kainama urges the strengthening of security measures in the region during the electoral period.

According to civil society advisor, Bienfait Baraka, the security situation has become critical in the Banande-Kainama grouping. Attacks were reported in Buakadi in the Bandiboyo groupement in Ituri, as well as in the Boga chiefdom. These incidents have created psychosis among the population of Kainama, who feel threatened. Additionally, the stretch of road from Eringeti to Kainama was the scene of several car fires.

Faced with these worrying events, civil society is calling on security services to redouble their efforts to ensure the safety of Kainama residents and road users during the electoral period. It is essential to secure this area in order to allow citizens to go about their daily activities with complete peace of mind.

This situation once again reveals the challenges faced by the authorities in their mission to protect the population. Collaboration between the Congolese armed forces (FARDC) and the Ugandan army (UPDF) is essential to confront the threat posed by the ADF rebels. It is necessary to put in place effective coordination and appropriate strategies to neutralize these armed groups and preserve the security of civilians.

In conclusion, securing the Banande-Kainama groupement and the Eringeti-Kainama road is an absolute priority during this electoral period. The authorities must take concrete measures to strengthen the security presence in the region and ensure the protection of residents. Civil society also encourages collaboration between the Congolese and Ugandan armed forces to face the threat from ADF rebels. It is crucial to guarantee tranquility and peace in this area to allow citizens to live safely.
