Dear readers,
Today, I would like to address a current topic that is causing a lot of concern in the Democratic Republic of Congo: the balkanization of our country. For several years, neighboring countries such as Rwanda, Uganda and Burundi have openly worked to fragment our territory, thus endangering our territorial integrity and sovereignty.
What is even more concerning is the inability of our leaders to unite and take a common stance against this threat. The late discovery by President Félix Tshisekedi of the Bandundu province clearly illustrates this lack of coordination and planning by our authorities. It is imperative for our leaders to know our entire country, to communicate physically with each national territory in order to better understand the issues and realities of our nation.
Another point of inconsistency lies within the political opposition. It is regrettable to note that leaders such as Martin Fayulu, Moïse Katumbi, Matata Ponyo, Adolphe Muzito and Dénis Mukwege cannot agree on a common candidacy in the upcoming elections. This division weakens our chances of offering a credible alternative to the current power and compromises our democracy.
Furthermore, it is alarming to note the lack of involvement of democracy support institutions, civil society and religious denominations in this critical situation. Their silence in the face of these abuses harms the credibility of our democratic system. It is high time to hold our leaders accountable and urge them to work together for the best interests of the nation.
Security, defense, education and training of our youth, as well as the promotion of our culture and spirituality, are fundamental issues for our future. It is imperative that we achieve a strong national consensus on these issues to ensure the stability and prosperity of our country.
As Congolese people, we have the power to overcome these challenges and build a better future for our country. It is time to unite, put aside our personal interests and work together to ensure our security, our development and our influence.
It is time to create a strong national consensus, based on security, defense, education, culture and democracy. Together, we can write a new page in the history of the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Now is the time to think ahead, plan for the next 50 years and build a strong and prosperous country for future generations.
Together we will get there!
Yours sincerely,
