Augustin Kibassa Maliba reappointed as head of the UDPS/Kibassa: a new chapter for the political party

The congress of the Union for Democracy and Social Progress (UDPS/Kibassa) party was held last Saturday and unanimously decided to reappoint Augustin Kibassa Maliba as president. This decision was greeted with enthusiasm by party members, demonstrating renewed confidence in their charismatic leader.

In a statement filled with emotion, Augustin Kibassa Maliba said he was honored by this renewal and promised to give everything to propel the party towards new horizons. He underlined his commitment to serving the party with selflessness and dignity, in honor of the memory of the founding fathers and in particular of Frédéric Kibassa Maliba, his mentor.

In addition to the reappointment of their president, the party also expressed its support for the candidacy of Félix Tshisekedi for the presidential election of December 2023. This strategic choice reinforces the commitment of the UDPS/Kibassa to continue its political struggle and to defend the ideals of democracy and social progress.

Furthermore, the congress voted for the election of four vice-presidents, each representing a linguistic zone. Jean Smith Bijanu will be in charge of the Lubaphone space, Édouard Makumbuila of Kikongophone, Bruno Ilunga Tembwa of Swahiliphone, and Adrien Likengelo will direct the Lingalaphone space. This linguistic diversity illustrates the party’s desire to represent and engage all Congolese citizens.

The reappointment of Augustin Kibassa Maliba as president of the UDPS/Kibassa marks the start of a new chapter for the political party. With his energetic leadership and determination to move the country forward, he is ready to take on the challenges that arise and guide the UDPS/Kibassa towards a better future.

In conclusion, the reappointment of Augustin Kibassa Maliba as president of the UDPS/Kibassa demonstrates the confidence placed by party members. With the support of Félix Tshisekedi and the election of vice-presidents representing the different linguistic zones, the UDPS/Kibassa is determined to continue its fight for democracy and social progress in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
