Tragic murder in Boma: A police officer shoots a young woman at point blank range
In a sad case that occurred in Boma, in the Kongo-Central province, a young woman was killed by a police officer during an operation to track down gambling players. Witnesses report that the tragedy took place in the Kikuku district, more precisely during an attempt to apprehend young people involved in these illegal activities.
According to eyewitnesses, two police officers from the Puela sub-station were present during the operation. Unfortunately, the targeted young people managed to escape, which led the police to pursue them. In this impulse, one of the police officers fired a warning bullet, but unfortunately, it hit the young woman who was coming out of her house.
The tragic incident provoked a strong reaction among the local population, who immediately overpowered the two police officers after their escape. The suspects are currently detained at the military prosecutor’s office while awaiting the opening of their criminal case.
This tragedy once again raises the issue of the use of force by law enforcement and highlights the importance of adequate training for police officers to avoid such accidents. It is crucial that authorities take steps to ensure accountability and transparency in this case, whilst ensuring that measures are put in place to prevent such incidents in the future.
