“Heads of erosion threatening the royal athenaeum of Kamayi: an alarming situation which requires emergency measures”

The regional council of non-governmental development organizations (CRONGD) recently sounded the alarm concerning the presence of erosion heads which threaten the royal atheneum of Kamayi, currently in the midst of a rehabilitation phase in the town of Kananga, in the Kasai-Central province. In a press release signed by its executive secretary, Albert Kyungu, CRONGD warned provincial authorities and the urban community of the seriousness of this situation.

The progression of these erosion heads represents a direct threat to the Kamayi Royal Athenaeum, and if no action is taken, they could soon reach the school fence. According to Albert Kyungu, these heads of erosion call into question the considerable efforts made in the rehabilitation of this complex and require immediate action to stop them.

The CRONGD, however, welcomes the start of anti-erosion work undertaken as part of the emergency project for urban resilience in Kananga, financed by the World Bank. This work aims to prevent the progression of erosion heads and to protect the city’s infrastructure. However, the CRONGD also warns the authorities of other heads of erosion which threaten the town of Kananga as a whole.

It is therefore imperative that emergency measures be taken to counter these erosions and guarantee the safety of the city’s infrastructure, including the Kamayi Royal Athenaeum. Collaboration between provincial authorities, the urban community and non-governmental development organizations is essential to confront this problem and preserve the rehabilitation efforts carried out so far.

In conclusion, it is crucial to take immediate measures to stop the progression of erosion heads that threaten the royal athenaeum of Kamayi, as well as other parts of the town of Kananga. Protecting infrastructure and preserving rehabilitation efforts are of paramount importance to ensure a stable and secure future for this region.
