Article: How to better distribute the quota of electrical energy in the DRC?
The Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) faces major challenges regarding the distribution of electrical energy in the country. Despite the presence of electricity production companies in certain regions, the rate of access to electricity in the DRC remains low. This is why the Mwangaza Network, a civil society organization, recently organized a seminar-workshop to discuss ways to improve the distribution of electric power quota in the country.
The report presented during this seminar highlights the low rate of electricity coverage in the DRC compared to other African countries. Many households were victims of expropriation as part of the construction of hydroelectric plants, but did not receive adequate compensation. These problems raise questions about the equitable distribution of electrical energy in the DRC.
Emmanuel Musuyu, coordinator of the Coalition of Civil Society Organizations for the Monitoring of Reforms and Public Action (CORAP), participated in this interview to discuss the question of the distribution of the electric energy quota in the DRC. It underlines the importance of better distribution to meet the energy needs of the population and promote the economic development of the country.
Me Eric Kasongo, spokesperson for the Mwanganza Network, also provided his point of view on the issue. It highlights the role of the State in establishing a coherent and equitable energy policy, which guarantees access to electricity for all citizens of the DRC.
