“Reconstruction and development work to reinvent the N’djili municipal house and improve the lives of the inhabitants of the commune!”

Reconstruction work on the administrative building of the N’djili municipal house as well as the development of two public spaces will soon begin. This work, at a total cost of $15.3 million, was entrusted to the Chinese company WIETC for a period of 18 months.

The project includes the construction of a new municipal house with its surrounding area, as well as the renovation of the Municipal Youth Council building. The facilities also include a police station associated with the town hall, as well as a pavilion housing kiosks, a library, a Red Cross area, a cafeteria and public toilets.

Another part of the project concerns the development of Place Sainte Thérèse, which will include landscaping, an event space, a central football field with stands, training rooms, changing rooms, an administrative area, toilets, a room multipurpose, a ticket office and a security post.

This reconstruction and development project is part of the Kin-Elenda Project, which aims to modernize and make the city of Kinshasa resilient. The Minister of Infrastructure and Public Works, Alexis Gisaro Muvunyi, stressed that these new works will give a new image to the institutions of the commune of N’djili.

This project is partly financed by the World Bank, which has mobilized an envelope of 500 million dollars for the first phase of the 5-year project. Over a period of 15 years, the project is expected to mobilize total funding of $1.5 billion.

The Director of Operations of the World Bank stressed that the Kin-Elenda project aims to finance projects with a direct impact on the population, as part of the World Bank’s new vision to eradicate poverty.

Thus, the reconstruction work on the administrative building of the N’djili municipal house and the development of public spaces will contribute to improving the infrastructure and living environment of the inhabitants of the commune. This project is part of a desire for modernization and sustainable development of the city of Kinshasa.
