Rehabilitation of agricultural service roads in Mwenga territory: a step towards rural development

In the territory of Mwenga, located in the province of South Kivu in the Democratic Republic of Congo, an initiative to rehabilitate agricultural service roads has just been launched. This action, carried out by Mwami Kalenga Riziki Lwango in collaboration with the non-profit organization “Amani na Maendeleo”, aims to enable the flow of agricultural products from remote villages to consumption and distribution centers.

The rehabilitation works concern several villages, including Mwenga center, Kibumba, Ngando, Bilalombili, Mizulo and Bisembe Iyoko. Once completed, these works will facilitate market access for smallholder farmers, reduce transport costs and improve agricultural productivity in the region.

The “Amani na Maendeleo” association will play a key role in carrying out the work, with technical support from the South Kivu Agricultural Service Roads Office. This collaboration will ensure that work is carried out efficiently and responsibly.

This initiative represents a major step forward for rural development in the Mwenga region. By facilitating the sale of agricultural products, it will help to boost the local economy and improve the living conditions of farmers.

The consultation framework of the Civil Society of the Mwenga territory welcomed this initiative and encouraged its implementation. It highlights the importance of having adequate transport infrastructure to support the agricultural sector and promote economic development.

The rehabilitation of agricultural service roads in Mwenga territory demonstrates the commitment of local authorities to promote rural development and support small farmers. It also opens up new perspectives for the region in terms of market access and economic development.

Thus, this initiative represents a real step forward in the promotion of agriculture and rural development in the Mwenga region. By promoting the sale of agricultural products, it will help to strengthen the local economy and improve the living conditions of farmers.
