Training on monitoring and execution of the agricultural production recovery plan in the DRC
From October 12 to 14, agriculture ministers and inspectors from 26 provinces of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) participated in training on monitoring, evaluation and execution of the agricultural production recovery plan . Organized in Kinshasa by the Ministry of Agriculture, this seminar brought together different experts to discuss the theme “Interministerial bridge for sustainable agricultural production in the DRC: efficiency and rationality in the use of agricultural seeds, fertilizers related chemicals, and the establishment of agricultural brigades across the national territory.
The Minister of Agriculture, José Mpanda, highlighted the importance of this training for a convergent approach to agriculture with emphasis on agricultural aggregation. He explained that this vision is part of the public-private partnership contract advocated by the President of the DRC. He also highlighted the role of improved seeds for developed agricultural production.
In addition to training, the minister announced the distribution of motorcycles to provincial, urban and territorial inspectors to help them support this initiative. He also mentioned the desire of the President of the DRC to restore the system of agricultural monitors to support small producers, family farmers and cooperatives.
This training on the monitoring and execution of the agricultural production recovery plan in the DRC therefore aims to strengthen the knowledge of ministers and inspectors of agriculture in order to improve the efficiency and sustainability of agriculture in the country. With a focus on agricultural aggregation and the use of improved seeds, it is hoped that this will increase agricultural production and support small farmers and cooperatives.
This initiative demonstrates the Congolese government’s commitment to developing agriculture and revitalizing the agricultural sector, which plays a crucial role in the country’s economy. It now remains to be seen how this knowledge and these measures will be translated on the ground and what the concrete results will be in terms of agricultural production and rural development.
