The power of solidarity: how the nation mobilizes after an earthquake

A tragic event recently struck the nation, a devastating earthquake that left thousands of people in disarray. But in the midst of this pain and destruction, a glimmer of hope emerged: the exceptional solidarity that quickly emerged to help the victims.

One man, Hamed Hammouche, a restaurateur in Marrakech, found himself involved in organizing relief for nearly 2,000 victims in the villages above the town of Amizmiz. It reflects the current situation and the morale of the populations it helps.

He affirms that despite the difficulties encountered at the beginning, morale is rather good thanks to the national solidarity which has been put in place. No one dies of hunger or thirst thanks to the aid provided. The victims are receiving water thanks to the installation of collective water points and electricity has also returned, making it possible to equip the tents of those who lost their homes.

The State is once again present and quickly mobilized by providing aid. Associations and support from all over the world have also contributed to this exceptional solidarity. Each douar organized itself to manage the organization of the neighborhood and restore order to the tents, as if they were real houses.

But despite this positive progress, after-effects are being felt. Children are particularly affected, as many schools have been destroyed. Solidarity has been put in place to provide school materials, but there is still much to do to restore the education system.

However, even in this difficult period, the desire of the Moroccan people to rebuild is astonishing. The children express their desire to rebuild the school and the strength of solidarity helps them move forward. Despite the trauma of the earthquake, the solidarity they benefited from kept them supported and surrounded, which alleviated the deep psychological trauma.

Finally, concern is also directed towards the living conditions of the victims, particularly in anticipation of winter with the cold, snow and wind. Mountain dwellers are used to dealing with these winter conditions, which is a first step towards better preparation. Steps were taken to reinforce tents and provide additional coverings.

In summary, despite the pain of a devastating earthquake, the solidarity of the Moroccan people remains a solid pillar. Efforts to rebuild and help those affected demonstrate the nation’s resilience and determination. The national pain finds a united response, and it is this exceptional solidarity that will allow the affected communities to recover and rebuild their future.
