FC Saint Eloi Lupopo and TP Mazembe share the points in a draw (0-0)
In an exciting derby of Ligue 1 of the national football championship in the DRC, FC Saint Eloi Lupopo and TP Mazembe parted in a scoreless draw (0-0). The meeting took place at the Joseph Kabila Kabange stadium in Kalemie, in the Tanganyika region.
From the start of the match, Lupopo players showed great determination. The repeated attacks by Patou Kabangu Mulota and his teammates, however, failed to worry TP Mazembe goalkeeper Siadi Baggio.
Lupopo’s domination continued in the second half, but the tactical changes made by coach Lamine Ndiaye did not allow the team to find the solution against a solid Ravens defense. The entries into play of Alex Ngonga and Wilfried Nkaya were not enough to make the difference.
With this sharing of points, TP Mazembe and FC Saint Eloi Lupopo find themselves tied on points, with 13 points each after five days of the championship. Mazembe, however, maintains the advantage thanks to a better goal difference.
FC Saint Eloi Lupopo, eliminated from continental competitions this season, can now only count on the national championship to revive itself. For its part, TP Mazembe has already qualified for the group stage of African competitions and continues its journey in the African Football League (AFL).
This exciting derby between FC Saint Eloi Lupopo and TP Mazembe offered a great battle on the pitch, and both teams can be satisfied with this draw which maintains their position at the top of the championship. Supporters are now impatiently awaiting the next meetings and hoping to witness great performances from their respective teams.
