Maniema, a province of the Democratic Republic of Congo, is actively preparing for the December 2023 elections. Recently, the province received 489 voting machines and more than 400 lithium batteries, according to CENI provincial executive secretary Sylvestre Mutoma.
These voting machines and lithium batteries complement the equipment already in place for the elections. Indeed, after the 2018 elections, some machines were retained and evaluated to determine which were damaged and should be discarded.
With the arrival of these new voting machines, the province of Maniema seems ready to organize the elections in the best conditions. Sylvestre Mutoma emphasizes that the elections should therefore not take long to be organized.
These voting machines, also called electronic voting devices, represent a technological advancement in the electoral process. They allow more efficient management of ballots and guarantee faster counting of votes. In addition, lithium batteries provide sufficient autonomy for the machines to operate throughout election days.
This receipt of electoral materials marks an important step in the preparations for the elections in the Democratic Republic of Congo. The authorities are doing everything possible to ensure that the electoral process takes place in a transparent, democratic and peaceful manner.
The December 2023 elections are eagerly awaited by the Congolese population. They represent an opportunity for the country to consolidate its democracy and allow citizens to choose their representatives in a free and fair manner.
Maniema is therefore actively preparing for these elections, ensuring that it has the necessary equipment to guarantee a reliable and transparent electoral process. All that remains now is to wait for election day and hope that everything takes place in the best conditions for the good of Congolese democracy.
