“The battle for the presidency in the DRC: the opposition submits candidacies and calls for a transparent election”

Candidates for the presidency of the Republic in the Democratic Republic of Congo no longer minimize their demands. Faced with a team in power which does not give in to their demands and a regime which seems to want to be granted a second presidential term, the candidates of the political opposition are mobilizing. Martin Fayulu, known for his radicalism, finally submitted his candidacy this Wednesday.

Fayulu intends to closely monitor the entire electoral process, from its organization to its conduct. In particular, he wishes to control the processing and proclamation of electoral results at all levels, in order to avoid any dangerous manipulation. Coalition leader Lamuka is optimistic and hopes that this time, transparency will prevail during the counting of votes. He calls for a proclamation of the results polling station by polling station, to guarantee the truth of the ballot boxes.

At the same time, Professor Denis Mukwege, winner of the Nobel Peace Prize, has also decided to enter the presidential race. Buoyed by the support of numerous platforms, he is considered a figure of international stature who could bring new direction to Congo-Zaire. Mukwege highlights his desire to pacify the country and calls for a coalition of forces for change.

In his speech, he underlines the urgency of acting to save the homeland and restore dignity to the Congolese people. He also warns of the risks of electoral fraud and calls for mobilization to control the electoral process and prevent any vote theft.

For their part, other candidates like Moïse Katumbi Chapwe, Augustin Matata Ponyo, Jean-Marc Sesanga and Franck Diongo are also very active on the ground, mobilizing their teams and meeting the populations. Everyone tries to convince voters of the legitimacy of their candidacy and their political program.

The race for the presidency in the Democratic Republic of Congo therefore promises to be intense and full of challenges. Opposition candidates want to make their voices heard and fight for transparent elections, while the regime in place seeks to consolidate its power. The Congolese people are impatiently awaiting these crucial elections which will shape the future of the country.
