The President of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Félix Tshisekedi, has just inaugurated two major infrastructures at the Kasumbalesa and Sakania border crossings. These new modern infrastructures are an essential step for the development of the region and the consolidation of the Congolese economy.
At the Kasumbalesa border post, located 91 km from Lubumbashi, a new 2,400 m² building was constructed. This infrastructure is equipped with a high-tech computer system and includes a customs evacuation route as well as a 250,000 m² car park. These developments will make it possible to considerably reduce the time required for customs operations and effectively combat fraud. In addition, the new building will bring together declarants and taxable persons from the eight official services present at the border. This modernization of the border post will have a positive impact on the processing of customs files and the rotation of vehicles, which will contribute to increasing revenues for the Public Treasury.
As for the dry port of Sakania, located nearly 200 km from Lubumbashi on the Congolese-Zambian border, it is a cross-border infrastructure with an area of 1.44 km². This dry port includes an official services inspection building and several parking areas for imports and exports. This new infrastructure will improve customs administration at the Sakania post, facilitate traffic and create both direct and indirect jobs.
These inaugurations mark an important step in the development of Congo and demonstrate the efforts made by President Félix Tshisekedi to modernize the country’s infrastructure. With a focus on trade facilitation, these new border crossings will help boost the regional economy and strengthen trade ties with neighboring countries.
President Tshisekedi thus continues his desire to promote economic development and the improvement of the living conditions of the Congolese population. These new infrastructures are also part of a desire to bring Congo closer to international standards in terms of trade and trade facilitation.
The next stop on the presidential couple’s journey will be in Kolwezi, where President Tshisekedi will inaugurate other works.
In conclusion, these inaugurations demonstrate the desire of President Félix Tshisekedi to modernize the country’s infrastructure and promote economic development. Thanks to these new infrastructures at the Kasumbalesa and Sakania border crossings, Congo is positioning itself as a major player in facilitating trade with neighboring countries. Legal Notice
