“Doctor Denis Mukwege is running for President of the Republic for a new Congo”

Doctor Denis Mukwege, famous for his commitment to human rights and the fight against sexual violence, officially announced his candidacy for the presidency of the Republic. The 2018 Nobel Peace Prize has submitted his application to the Office of Reception and Processing of Candidatures of the Independent National Electoral Commission.

In an interview with the President of the CENI, Denis Kadima Kazadi, Doctor Mukwege expressed his deep motivation to run in the presidential elections. He highlighted the existential crisis the country is going through, with the presence of foreign forces and more than 100 armed groups in the East. He deplored the predation of national wealth and the inhumane conditions in which the Congolese population lives.

Doctor Mukwege called on the Congolese people to take an active part in the electoral process, to defend their vote and to resist in the event of theft of the vote. He said the decision to run for president is already a victory for him, and that it was time for the Congolese people to take charge of the management of their resources and put an end to a system that has persisted for too long.

This candidacy of Doctor Denis Mukwege raises many hopes and expectations, as he is recognized for his commitment to justice and the protection of human rights. His desire to change the situation and allow the Congolese people to truly benefit from the wealth of their country is laudable and represents hope for renewal for the Democratic Republic of Congo.

It now remains to be seen how this electoral cycle will unfold and whether the results will reflect the will of the Congolese people. The candidacy of Doctor Mukwege thus enriches the political landscape and opens new perspectives for the future of the Congo.
