“The BTP Club and the Chamber of Trades and Crafts are joining forces with Expo Béton to boost the construction sector in the DRC”

Expo Béton and the Ministry of Vocational Training and Crafts have joined forces to create the Construction Club (Buildings, Public Works) and the Chamber of Trades and Crafts. This partnership aims to better supervise the field of Building and Public Works in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

During the opening of the 7th edition of the Expo Béton 2023 in Kolwezi, Jean Bamanisa, representative of the Ministry of Vocational Training and Crafts, highlighted the employment opportunities that the construction sector can offer thanks to the manufacturing of cement . According to him, the production of one million tonnes of cement can generate work for 450,000 people. However, it is necessary to train this workforce to ensure the quality of construction and contribute to the Congolese government’s policy.

The implemented project also aims to resolve a problem specific to the Kolwezi region. Indeed, many constructions are carried out without taking into account the risks of landslides linked to underground mining activities. Thus, the city’s layout must be rethought to ensure appropriate construction standards. Unemployed young people from the mines can then be trained in various construction-related trades such as masonry, tiling, welding, etc.

This partnership receives the support of certain banks and financial partners, who recognize the importance of combating unemployment and poverty in this province rich in natural resources.

The Concrete Expo is a major event in the construction sector in the Democratic Republic of Congo. This year, many companies, representing different sectors related to construction, are present, allowing for fruitful exchanges and collaboration opportunities.

The closing of the Concrete Expo provides for the presentation of the recommendations resulting from the work. This event therefore constitutes a unique opportunity for industry players to express their expectations and contribute to the development of the Building and Public Works sector.

In conclusion, the partnership between Expo Béton and the Ministry of Vocational Training and Crafts is a promising initiative to supervise the field of Building and Public Works in the Democratic Republic of Congo. By training the local workforce and ensuring quality construction standards, this project will help create sustainable jobs and promote economic development in the region.
