“Successful operation: The Congolese armed forces neutralize four CODECO militiamen in Ituri”

The armed forces of the Democratic Republic of Congo (FARDC) successfully carried out an operation against CODECO militiamen in Ituri, in the northeast of the country. During the clash, four militiamen were neutralized and the armed forces discovered their bodies during search operations. Unfortunately, two soldiers and a driver were also injured during the collision.

Lieutenant Jules Ngongo, spokesperson for the FARDC in Ituri, underlined the determination of the Congolese army to fight against armed groups trying to disrupt security in the region. He recalled that attacks against the positions of the armed forces are considered “good war”, because the FARDC is ready to respond appropriately.

However, the FARDC also expressed its disappointment with the non-compliance of the armed groups that signed the commitments to cease hostilities. Despite these violations, the Congolese army has assured that the situation is under control and called on the population to dissociate themselves from any criminals.

This operation shows the determination of the Congolese armed forces to ensure security and stability in the Ituri region. However, it is essential that armed groups respect ceasefire commitments to allow a return to peace and social cohesion.

It is encouraging to see that the armed forces continue to fight against armed groups and protect the population against security threats. Cooperation between the armed forces and the population is essential to end instability and create an environment conducive to development and prosperity.

This operation against the CODECO militia underlines the commitment of the Congolese government to fight against armed groups and restore peace in the region. Hopefully these actions will lead to a reduction in attacks and an improvement in the security situation in Ituri and the country as a whole.
