Kikingi regains peace thanks to the intervention of joint FARDC-UPDF forces
In a recent development, the locality of Kikingi, located in the Rwenzori massif, in the Beni territory in North Kivu, was liberated from the control of the ADF/MTM rebel movements. This victory was the result of the joint efforts of the FARDC (Armed Forces of the Democratic Republic of Congo) and UPDF (Uganda People’s Liberation Army) military forces, who worked closely to restore security in the region. Lieutenant-Colonel Mak Hazukay, spokesperson for joint military operations, announced this good news, emphasizing the protection of the local population.
After a recent incursion by ADF/MTM terrorists into the fields surrounding Kikingi, which unfortunately cost the life of one person and led to several disappearances, the joint FARDC-UPDF forces quickly intervened to secure the area. In fact, the soldiers were able to find a child abandoned by his mother, panicked by the situation. The liberation of Kikingi thus allowed the population to resume their daily activities and live in a secure environment.
This success is of capital importance in the fight against the ADF, which is responsible for numerous massacres of civilians in the Beni region as well as in parts of the Irumu territory in Ituri. The joint operations, known as “Shujaa”, have been intensified to weaken the enemy and ensure the security of citizens.
The liberation of Kikingi demonstrates the commitment of Congolese and Ugandan military forces to fight against terrorist groups and protect the civilian population. However, it is important to emphasize that the fight against the ADF is not limited to a single locality, but requires coordination and continued perseverance to completely eradicate this threat.
This victory therefore represents a step forward in the restoration of peace and security in the Beni region. Let us hope that the joint efforts of the FARDC and the UPDF will continue to bear fruit and that other localities can soon be freed from the control of rebel groups.
