Christian Nsengi Biembe: Remuneration arrears cause tensions between the Congolese coach and FECOFA

Christian Nsengi Biembe, former coach of the Leopards A of the DRC, is facing financial problems with FECOFA (Fédération Congolaise de Football Association). Indeed, the Congolese technician is demanding his arrears of “emoluments and match bonuses” after the “without cause” termination of his contract. A case in trial before FIFA which is slow to find a resolution.

The figures are clear: it is 133,000 dollars that Christian Nsengi Biembe is demanding from the Congolese government. A document, signed by Serge Nkonde, Minister of Sports at the time, specified that the Public Treasury had to pay this sum “urgently”. However, since this announcement, it has been radio silence.

In November 2022, FIFA reduced the sum to $121,000, but Christian Nsengi Biembe claims to have still received nothing. He says he is disappointed and disappointed by the lack of legal follow-up in this matter. A situation which does not seem to be changing and which pushes him to consider contacting FIFA directly to move things forward.

It should be remembered that Christian Nsengi Biembe has held several positions within FECOFA, including that of National Technical Director and coach of the Leopards U23. Between 2019 and 2021, he was the coach of Leopards A, replacing Jean-Florent Ibenge. However, he was dismissed due to a lack of results, notably the failure to qualify for CAN 2021.

In conclusion, tensions persist between Christian Nsengi Biembe and FECOFA regarding his remuneration arrears. The Congolese technician finally hopes to win his case in this dragging out case. A worrying situation which highlights the financial difficulties often encountered by African football coaches.
