National Road Nº4 linking Bunia to Kisangani, with a length of approximately 800 km, has been facing serious problems for almost five years. The dire conditions of this road make traffic difficult, with many trucks stuck in the quagmires, leading to rising prices and impacting the daily lives of residents.
According to recent testimonies reported by POLITICO.CD, a column of vehicles transporting goods is currently stuck in the quagmires, between kilometer points 160 and 200, in the province of Tshopo. This situation is causing a shortage of fuel, beans and potatoes, thus impacting the supply and economic life of the region.
Faced with this critical situation, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Civil Service went to Kisangani and expressed the government’s desire to urgently rehabilitate this essential road axis. He stressed the importance of an emergency plan for the rehabilitation of National Road Nº4, and indicated that funds would be released for this purpose.
The Congolese government is aware of the urgency of the situation and has already provided the necessary resources for the rehabilitation of the road. The Deputy Prime Minister stressed that this money must be disbursed quickly in order to allow the work to be carried out quickly and to show the President of the Republic that the allocated funds have been used effectively.
In parallel with this visit, the Deputy Prime Minister also took advantage of his stay in the Tshopo province to accelerate the retirement files of state civil servants and evaluate the ongoing biometric identification process.
The rehabilitation of National Road Nº4 between Bunia and Kisangani is therefore a priority for the Congolese government. It is essential to rehabilitate this road in order to facilitate economic exchanges and improve the daily life of the population. The necessary funds have been allocated, all that remains is to take action and carry out this rehabilitation urgently.
