“The installation of a financial prosecutor’s office in the DRC: a key solution to restore good economic governance”

The installation of a financial prosecutor’s office in the Democratic Republic of Congo: a proposal to restore good economic governance

In a conference debate organized by the Haut-Katanga bar in Lubumbashi, the inspector general of finance and head of department, Jules Alengete, highlighted the need to install a financial prosecutor’s office in the Democratic Republic of Congo. This proposal aims to support the Inspector General of Finance (IGF) in its mission of monitoring and controlling public finances, as well as to gradually restore good governance in the country.

The main objective of this financial prosecution would be to help magistrates to better investigate legal cases linked to violations of financial laws. Indeed, some magistrates encounter difficulties in understanding and handling matters relating to public finances, which can compromise the effectiveness of legal proceedings. The creation of a public prosecutor’s office bringing together magistrates specialized in financial matters would therefore make it possible to improve the control of public finances and strengthen the fight against corruption and embezzlement.

Alongside this proposal, the IGF also supports the installation of an IGF agent next to each managing agent of a State structure. This collaboration aims to improve the quality of public spending and increase the traceability of spending. By having an IGF representative directly involved within public structures, it would be possible to better control spending and ensure more effective management of state finances.

It is essential that Congolese society and the international community support this initiative aimed at restoring good economic governance in the Democratic Republic of Congo. By strengthening public financial control and actively fighting corruption, the country will be able to promote responsible and transparent use of financial resources.

In conclusion, the installation of a financial prosecutor’s office in the Democratic Republic of Congo is a relevant proposal to improve the control of public finances and restore citizens’ confidence in state institutions. This initiative will make it possible to fight corruption and embezzlement more effectively, thus promoting more equitable and sustainable economic development for the country. It is now essential that this proposal is supported and implemented to guarantee good financial governance in the DRC.
