“Major progress in the fight against measles in Oicha: vaccination campaigns reduce the number of cases!”

Significant progress in the fight against measles in the health zone of Oicha, Beni, North Kivu was observed between May and August this year. According to a report published by the nurse supervisor in charge of epidemiological surveillance, Archipe Kule Kyusa, the number of cases increased from around a hundred to around twenty thanks to two intensive vaccination campaigns.

The results are encouraging, with a notable decrease in the number of measles cases reported in recent months. Last May, the Oicha health zone still had more than a hundred cases of measles recorded, but thanks to vaccination campaigns organized by the government, this figure increased to around twenty in August.

Archipe Kule Kyusa attributes this significant drop to the impact of the two vaccination campaigns carried out to fight the epidemic. These campaigns made it possible to reach a large number of people and protect them against measles.

However, it should be noted that a few cases of measles have been recorded outside the vaccination circuit. This highlights the importance of continuing to raise awareness and educate the population on the importance of vaccination to prevent the spread of infectious diseases.

The fight against measles remains a major public health issue, particularly in areas affected by recurrent epidemics. It is essential to maintain vaccination efforts and strengthen epidemiological surveillance in order to keep the spread of the disease under control.

This progress in the fight against measles in the Oicha health zone is a source of hope and demonstrates the effectiveness of vaccination campaigns. They also highlight the need to continue investing in public health and promoting vaccination programs accessible to all.

The fight against infectious diseases can only be won through a comprehensive and coordinated approach, involving health authorities, health professionals and the community as a whole. The decrease in measles cases in the Oicha health zone shows that by working together, it is possible to effectively combat epidemics and protect the health of the population.
