The Congo Airways airline suspends its domestic flights from September 11. This decision is taken with the aim of guaranteeing the safety of passengers, in accordance with IATA standards and the company’s IOSA certifications. This temporary suspension of operations will also improve the efficiency of the national company’s services.
According to internal sources, the main reason for this suspension is the need to repair the engine of one of the aircraft in the fleet, an A320. Currently, only three aircraft are operational, including one Fokker and two Airbus. The company’s other planes, including two Dash 8s and another Airbus A320, are unusable at the moment.
Unfortunately, despite the desire of the President of the Republic, Félix Tshisekedi, to quickly resolve this problem, administrative burdens and the reluctance of aircraft rental companies complicate the search for a solution. It is feared that this situation will continue for several weeks.
It should be remembered that Congo Airways was created in 2014 with the aim of opening up the Democratic Republic of Congo, promoting the security and democratization of air transport, and promoting the socio-economic integration of the country. Since its first flight in 2015, the company has strived to meet these objectives.
It is regrettable to see this national airline forced to suspend its domestic flights, but passenger safety must always be the priority. We hope that the technical problems will be resolved quickly and that Congo Airways can resume normal operations as soon as possible, in order to continue contributing to the development of air transport in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
