Construction work on the new Kananga morgue is progressing rapidly, under the responsibility of the SAFRIMEX company. This initiative is part of the presidential emergency program for the construction and rehabilitation of basic social infrastructure in the town of Kananga.
The construction of this morgue is a response to the needs expressed by the population of Kasaï-Central during the visit of the President of the Republic, Félix Tshisekedi, in December 2021. Indeed, the general reference hospital of Kananga had until then of a small morgue, dating from the colonial era, with only nine mortuary refrigerators.
The new morgue under construction will be equipped with modern facilities to ensure optimal preservation of bodies. It will include an embalming room, around fifty funeral refrigerators and a funeral store. One of the particularities of this infrastructure is its operation on solar energy, with nearly 280 solar panels planned to power the morgue. Boreholes are also planned to guarantee a regular water supply.
The Director General of the Central Coordination Office (BCECO), Jean Mabi, accompanied by the provincial governor, John Kabeya, visited the site to inspect the progress of the work. The governor said he was satisfied with the development of this infrastructure which will meet the needs of the population in terms of preserving bodies.
In addition to the morgue, the director of BCECO also visited other construction sites in the city of Kananga, including that of the terminal. These various constructions contribute to the improvement of infrastructure in the region and demonstrate the government’s commitment to the development and well-being of citizens.
In conclusion, the construction of the new Kananga morgue is a major project which meets the needs expressed by the population and which will contribute to improving the conditions for preserving bodies. This initiative is part of a broader presidential program aimed at developing and rehabilitating basic social infrastructure in the town of Kananga.
