In a recent press release, the NGO Multisectoral Popularization and Awareness Program (PMVS) announced its deployment in several airports in the Democratic Republic of Congo. The objective is to identify the achievements made thanks to the “Go Pass” tax and to evaluate its positive impact on the rehabilitation of airport infrastructure.
The PMVS, led by Ludovic Kalengayi, says it is committed to carrying out a field trip to the airports of N’djili, Ndolo, Goma, Lubumbashi and Kisangani. This approach follows numerous complaints from the population and travelers, who question the effectiveness of this tax.
Correspondence from the Director General of the Régie des Voies Aériens (RVA) was also mentioned in the press release. He explains that the “Go Pass” tax is not a Congolese creation, but an international practice in civil aviation. He also claims that there have been numerous airport modernization actions.
Faced with these declarations, the PMVS decided to go to the field in order to verify for itself the improvements made to airport infrastructure. Field visits will take place at the various airports mentioned, and the achievements will be studied closely. The results of these studies will be presented to the press on Thursday September 20.
At the same time, the PMVS announced that it will propose concrete solutions for the rehabilitation of airports. Criticisms concerning the ineffectiveness of the “Go Pass” tax could thus be taken into account in the development of new measures.
This PMVS initiative highlights the importance of transparency and accountability in the management of airport infrastructure. By evaluating achievements and informing public opinion, the PMVS seeks to strengthen the confidence of travelers and citizens in airport rehabilitation efforts.
It is essential to closely follow the results of these field studies and see what concrete proposals will be made by the PMVS to improve airport infrastructure in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Transparency and efficiency in resource management are essential elements to ensure the smooth operation of airports and guarantee an optimal travel experience for passengers.
