Press release: The inauguration of the Kinshasa Financial Center scheduled for December 2, 2023
Kinshasa, September 14, 2023 – In a press briefing held on the site, the boss of the Turkish company Milvest announced that the inauguration of the Kinshasa Financial Center will take place on December 2, 2023. This project, financed by the Turkish government at worth 290 million dollars, symbolizes cooperation between the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and Turkey.
The Kinshasa Financial Center is made up of two distinct projects. First of all, it will include six buildings, including a luxury hotel. An impressive 3,000 m2 fountain, the largest in Central Africa, will also be erected, offering a spectacular water jet show.
In addition, a Congress Hall will be built, as well as two blocks of offices intended for rental. The site will also have underground parking that can accommodate up to 800 vehicles.
Construction on the Kinshasa Financial Center began in June 2022 and currently employs more than 3,000 people, including 1,800 Congolese and 1,200 Turks. It is estimated that ultimately, nearly 5,000 people will work on this site, which will notably accommodate the services of the Ministries of Finance and Budget.
According to Turhan Mildon, the owner of Milvest, all the infrastructure built belongs to the Democratic Republic of Congo. However, the management of the Financial Center will be ensured in a transversal manner. Milvest will take over the management of the Marriott hotel for a period of 49 years, before handing it over entirely to the Congolese state. This decision follows an investment of more than $60 million made by Milvest in this hotel project.
Turhan Mildon also specified that the DRC will benefit from the revenue generated by the Kinshasa Financial Center in the form of monthly cash flow.
The inauguration of the Kinshasa Financial Center is a major event which demonstrates the cooperation between the DRC and Turkey. This ambitious project will contribute to the economic development and growth of the Congolese capital, providing new employment opportunities and strengthening ties between the two nations.
