Appointment of Sandra Tshibonge Mbiye, Director of the SCPT, as President of the Board of Directors of the Pan-African Postal Union “PAPU”
In the field of diplomacy, the President of the Republic of the Democratic Republic of Congo, Head of State, has demonstrated his unwavering commitment. Thanks to its incessant efforts, our country now sees itself represented and listened to in continental and international organizations. Proof of this accomplishment is materialized by the recent appointment of Sandra Tshibonge Mbiye, Director of the Congolese Post and Telecommunications Company (SCPT), to the position of President of the Board of Directors of the Pan-African Postal Union (UPAP).
From August 24 to September 2, the 41st ordinary session of PAPU was held in Arusha, in the United Republic of Tanzania. This session, which brought together officials from African Union member countries in charge of the postal sector, as well as numerous experts and players in the field, was marked by the inauguration of the “UPAP Tower”, a modern building of 17 floors housing the central services of UPAP. The inauguration ceremony was presided over by Madam Samia Suluhu Hassan, President of the United Republic of Tanzania. This building, financed 60% by the Tanzanian government and 40% by PAPU, shows the importance given to new information and communication technologies (NICT) in the development of postal services on the African continent.
The other key moment of this PAPU session was the appointment of Sandra Tshibonge Mbiye as President of the Board of Directors. This appointment not only highlights the skills and leadership qualities of Ms. Tshibonge, but also demonstrates the financial efforts made by the Democratic Republic of Congo to be eligible for this position. Indeed, to claim eligibility, it is imperative that the country is up to date with its contributions to the PAPU operating budget. The DRC, by liquidating its arrears of several years of contributions, was thus able to obtain this prestigious designation.
This appointment of Sandra Tshibonge Mbiye at the head of PAPU is recognition of the expertise and dynamism of the Congolese postal sector. It is also an opportunity for the DRC to play a leading role in the development of postal services in Africa. With Ms. Tshibonge’s vision and leadership, the DRC can contribute to the modernization and innovation of the postal sector on the continent.
In conclusion, the appointment of Sandra Tshibonge Mbiye as President of the PAPU Board of Directors is proof of the international recognition of the DRC’s efforts in the postal field. It is also an opportunity for the country to showcase its expertise and actively contribute to the development of the postal sector in Africa.. Congratulations to Ms. Tshibonge on this well-deserved appointment, and let us wish her every success in her new responsibilities.
