Visit to companies benefiting from state exemptions in North Kivu

As part of her stay in North Kivu, the Minister of State, Minister of Planning, Judith Suminwa Tuluka, recently made a field visit to meet local businesses which have benefited from state exemptions, granted by the National Industry Promotion Agency (ANAPI). This initiative aimed to evaluate the success of these companies in the context of the incentive measures put in place by the Congolese government to promote investment and economic development.

During her visit, the Minister had the opportunity to visit three different companies. The first company was the “Nuru” photovoltaic plant located in the city of Goma. The Minister praised the achievements of this company which supplies electrical energy to more than 3,500 customers in the region. Nuru is a large-scale electrification project in the Democratic Republic of Congo, which uses a solar-based hybrid system to produce electricity and distribute it to households, small businesses and industries.

The Minister also visited the Okapi corn flour manufacturing plant, located in Goma. The company’s Managing Director highlighted the importance of the exemptions granted by the government, which allowed the company to operate tax-free. This will allow the company to prosper quickly and contribute to the economic development of the region.

Finally, the Minister closed her visit to the Mont-Gabaon corn flour manufacturing plant. The company’s managers expressed their gratitude to the government for its support of local entrepreneurship, particularly through the tax exemptions granted.

During her discussions with the leaders of the visited companies, the Minister underlined the importance of Congolese entrepreneurship in the development of the country, despite the challenges linked to insecurity in the region. She also recalled that the government has put in place incentive measures to promote investment and create employment opportunities by granting tax exemptions to economic operators.

This field visit allowed the Minister to evaluate the concrete results of the incentive measures put in place by the government and to note the progress made by the companies benefiting from exemptions. These meetings are encouraging for the economic development of the region and demonstrate the commitment of the Congolese government to supporting local entrepreneurship.

In conclusion, state exemptions play an essential role in promoting investment and economic development in the Democratic Republic of Congo. By supporting local businesses, these incentive measures aim to create jobs, stimulate economic growth and strengthen the country’s development potential.
