Control of the transport and storage of petroleum products: Minister of Hydrocarbons Didier Budimbu on the ground to enforce the measures
In a recent note from the communications unit of the Ministry of Hydrocarbons, it was announced that Minister Didier Budimbu undertook a series of field visits in order to monitor the application of measures prohibiting the passage of vehicles using cans or drums for the transport and storage of petroleum products.
Aware of the serious incidents caused by the transport and illegal storage of petroleum products, Didier Budimbu decided to carry out these inspections himself. During his first raid on August 27, he noted the existence of vehicle parking lots which continue to engage in this prohibited activity. Under his vigilance, some recalcitrants were caught in flagrante delicto in Mitendi and Mont-Ngafula.
His round also extended to the Kasangulu toll booth, where he noted numerous violations of the measures in force. Faced with this situation, the Minister of Hydrocarbons showed firmness by opposing the circulation of these vehicles and making them turn back. He made clear his disapproval of the dangerous behavior of some traders, putting not only their own lives at risk, but also those of others who could be exposed to fire hazards.
Didier Budimbu, determined to clean up the hydrocarbon sector, extended his inspection until the early morning, remaining at the Kasangulu toll booth. The next day, in Mitendi, he again intercepted a bus illegally transporting gasoline.
The determination of the Minister of Hydrocarbons to enforce these salutary measures to ensure the safety of all is very present. It will not show flexibility in the face of those who break the rules, and will continue to take the necessary measures to clean up the sector.
In conclusion, the actions undertaken by Didier Budimbu to control the transport and storage of petroleum products in safe conditions are essential to prevent serious incidents and fire risks. Its determination to enforce these measures is a strong signal to ensure security in the hydrocarbon sector in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
