Article: Rise of Ligue 2 clubs in the national football championship in the DRC
The presidents of the clubs of the national football championship Ligue 2 in the Democratic Republic of Congo recently made an official request to the standardization committee of the Congolese Federation of Football Association (FECOFA) to claim their right to the rise of clubs which finished first positions last season. This request concerns the teams of FC MK, FC Tanganyika, Vutuka, OC Bukavu Dawa, Malole and Malekesa.
This approach was undertaken following the submission of a memorandum on Saturday September 9. Christian Kitungwa, president of FC Tanganyika, stressed in an interview that their club’s season is valid and that they argued their request based on official texts. He specified that five of the six clubs concerned have already signed this memorandum.
The FC Tanganyika president explained that their request is based on the fact that the League 2 season is valid, since they have completed the first leg. According to the regulations in force, this gives them the right to participate in the play-offs and access the elite of Congolese football. He also mentioned that a proposal from the normalization committee had been made in the past to organize confrontations between clubs to determine the climbs. The club presidents therefore believe that their request is legitimate and that it is based on solid arguments.
The leaders of Ligue 2 clubs are determined to assert their rights and hope for a rapid response from the standardization committee. They want to be able to play in the elite from this season which is already underway.
This request from Ligue 2 clubs highlights the importance of respecting the regulations and guaranteeing fairness in Congolese football. It is essential that the decisions taken by the governing bodies are based on objective and transparent criteria, in order to preserve the integrity and credibility of the national football championship in the DRC. Football fans and fans are eagerly awaiting the response from the normalization committee and hope that this situation will be resolved fairly for all parties involved.
