Félix Tshisekedi’s success as a presidential candidate in the Democratic Republic of Congo continues to grow. According to a recent report by the American polling firm GeoPoll, he is strengthening his lead over his opponents, Martin Fayulu and Moïse Katumbi.
The GeoPoll Sociopolitical Barometer survey reveals that nearly half of the Congolese population is generally satisfied with the outgoing president’s record. Although there remain challenges to overcome, such as the construction of basic infrastructure, the creation of jobs for young people and the fight against insecurity, free education is a reason for satisfaction for many voters.
The report highlights that more than 65% of Congolese are willing to re-elect Félix Tshisekedi for a second term, with a slight drop among young people. In comparison, Moïse Katumbi collects only 12% of voting intentions and Martin Fayulu 8%.
According to GeoPoll, the fragmentation of the opposition and the strong support enjoyed by Félix Tshisekedi indicate a landslide victory for the outgoing president in the upcoming presidential elections in the DRC.
The GeoPoll Sociopolitical Barometer is an initiative to collect rapid and accurate data on social and political issues in developing countries. Thanks to large-scale surveys and advanced technology, the results are reliable and representative of public opinion.
The growing popularity of Félix Tshisekedi testifies to his ability to strengthen his foothold across the country, just a few months before the general elections. His record and his vision for the future seem to convince a large part of the Congolese population, which gives him a head start over his rivals. It remains to be seen how this dynamic will translate into the ballot box in upcoming elections
