Arrest of a suspected Zaire militia supplier in Ituri: a “nice catch” for the DRC armed forces.

The arrest of Kambale Kasayi Faustin in Ituri province, a suspected supplier of the Zaire militia, was presented as a “nice trick” by the DRC armed forces. According to the information gathered, Kambale is in collaboration with certain Zairian leaders, which shows that efforts to put an end to the activism of armed groups, both local and foreign, are far from over.

The military governor of the province, Lieutenant-General Luboya N’Kashama, congratulates his elements for this operation. He reassures the population about the commitment of the authorities to annihilate all criminals. The latter, who has led the province under a state of siege for more than two years, considers that the children of Ituri have suffered enough and that there has been no people who have suffered as much as the Iturians.

Since the advent of the state of siege in May 2021, several alleged criminals have been arrested and brought before the provincial security committee. However, the expectation of legal proceedings leads to overcrowding in prison.

This arrest illustrates that security remains a major concern in the DRC, as the country continues to face threats from armed groups
