Sankuru: Start of development works in Lumumba Ville
As part of the development plan for the city of Lumumba, the Minister of Infrastructure, Alexis Gisaro, dispatched a delegation to the province of Sankuru to assess the works necessary for the construction of Lumumba Ville. This initiative follows the concerns expressed by Senator Shé Okitundu during a session in the Senate, where he stressed the importance of paying tribute to Patrice Emery Lumumba, a national hero.
The delegation, headed by Chrysostome Ila Ngongo, director of the minister’s cabinet, is made up of representatives of the Office des Routes, the OVD (Office des Voies de Service), the general secretary of the ITP (Infrastructures, Public Works) as well as than experts in planning and urban planning. Its objective will be to visit the priority sites and to determine the operations to be set up according to the available resources.
Gilbert Kakonde, Director General of the Office of Planning and Urban Planning, emphasizes that this mission is an essential step in the operationalization of the Lumumba Ville development plan. He explains that emergency works will be carried out in order to open up the city and build public facilities.
Lumumba Ville is an ambitious project that will require national and international mobilization of resources for its realization. The Congolese government is counting on the support of financial partners to make this project a reality and to pay tribute to Patrice Emery Lumumba, an emblematic figure of the independence of the Democratic Republic of Congo.
In conclusion, the delegation’s visit to Sankuru marks the beginning of the development work in Lumumba Ville. This project aims to pay tribute to Patrice Emery Lumumba and to develop the region by improving accessibility and building public infrastructure. It represents a real challenge, but with the mobilization of all stakeholders, it could transform the city into a symbol of progress and development for the DRC
