“Democratic Republic of Congo: An ambitious program to acquire 15 new fishing boats and boost fish production”

Program for the acquisition of 15 fishing boats to develop fish production in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

During the meeting of the Council of Ministers on Friday August 18, the Deputy Prime Minister of National Economy, Vital Kamerhe, presented an ambitious program aimed at increasing fish production in the Democratic Republic of Congo. This program provides for the acquisition of 15 new fishing boats with the aim of revitalizing the industrial and artisanal fishing sectors.

This project, which was submitted to the sectoral ministers for discussion at the government’s ECOFIN commission, aims to diversify the national economy by promoting increased fish production. According to the Minister of Communication and government spokesman, Patrick Muyaya, this plan is the result of a contract signed last February for the acquisition of 15 boats.

The main objective of this program is to achieve food self-sufficiency by capitalizing on the fishing potential of the Democratic Republic of Congo, which is endowed with numerous rivers and lakes suitable for fishing. By investing in the acquisition of new boats, the Congolese government hopes to stimulate fish production and thus contribute to the country’s food security.

The Deputy Prime Minister of National Economy also encouraged the government to finance the activities proposed by the sectoral ministry, stressing that this program constitutes the kick-off of a larger and more ambitious project for the fishing sector in Democratic Republic of Congo.

With this initiative, the Congolese government demonstrates a desire to develop the industrial and artisanal fishing sectors in order to diversify the national economy. By investing in the acquisition of new fishing boats, the Democratic Republic of the Congo is showing its determination to fully exploit its fishing potential and to promote sustainable food production.

This acquisition program for 15 fishing boats represents an important step in the development of the fishing sector in the Democratic Republic of Congo. By emphasizing fish production, the government is helping to strengthen the country’s food security and stimulate the national economy. It now remains to effectively implement this plan in order to achieve the set objectives and ensure a prosperous future for the fishing sector in the DRC
