News: Félix-Antoine Tshisekedi calls for reconciliation and reintegration of marginalized people in the Democratic Republic of Congo
In a speech at the opening of the round table on the state of siege in the provinces of Ituri and North Kivu, the President of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Félix-Antoine Tshisekedi, called on the marginalized to join the disarmament and reintegration operation. This initiative aims to find a peaceful solution to the troubles that have affected these regions for several decades.
President Tshisekedi underlined that the insecurity in the east of the country threatened the very existence of the institutions, thus justifying the exceptional regime of the state of siege. However, he also asserted that this measure was not intended to continue indefinitely and that a peaceful solution must be found to the situation.
Aware of the sacrifices imposed on the populations of Ituri and North Kivu, the Head of State has launched an appeal to all those who disturb the peace, offering them a last chance to join the program of disarmament, demobilization, community recovery and stabilization. This initiative aims to reintegrate the marginalized into Congolese society and give them an opportunity to rebuild themselves.
Prime Minister Sama Lukonde also stressed the importance of the assessments carried out in the provinces affected by the state of siege. National deputies, notables, animators, institutions and civil society actors are taking part in this round table in Kinshasa, with the aim of finding lasting solutions to the insecurity that is rampant in these regions.
Félix-Antoine Tshisekedi’s appeal marks a desire for national reconciliation and pacification of areas affected by insecurity. By offering an opportunity for reintegration to the marginalized, the government hopes to put an end to the violence and promote the economic and social development of these regions.
This new approach, centered on reconciliation and reintegration, is an important step towards building lasting peace in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
