“Legislative elections in the DRC: the publication of the list of candidates arouses a lively debate and a call for the vigilance of the citizens’ movement”

The Congolese political landscape is in turmoil ahead of the upcoming legislative elections scheduled for December. The Independent National Electoral Commission (CENI) published on Friday the provisional list of candidacies declared admissible and inadmissible, arousing strong reactions from the citizen movement Dynamic Impunity Zero and its president, Maître Grâce Tshiunza Tantamika.

Of the 28,791 applications received, 23,653 were declared admissible and 642 inadmissible, i.e. 4,496 non-compliant and 24,295 compliant. A proportion that raises questions about the real motivations of political parties and groups that have aligned lists with rates of 99% and 95% of their leaders. For Master Grace Tshiunza, these political calculations have no interest for the country and the Congolese people.

According to him, this over-representation of certain political parties is the result of their alliance with the various past regimes, in particular with Mobutu, Laurent Désiré Kabila and Joseph Kabila. He denounces their inaction in favor of the Congo, their involvement in criminal affairs and corruption, as well as their support for insecurity in the country.

Master Grace Tshiunza affirms that the only credible partner for the President of the Republic Félix Tshisekedi for his next mandate is the Congolese youth. He calls on the people to punish these criminal candidates and not leave power in their corrupt hands. He warns that the revolution will be brutal and dramatic if these candidates dare to play with the popular will in December.

The CENI explained that the inadmissible candidacies were due to non-compliance with the eligibility conditions of the electoral law. Political parties and independent candidates have a period of 5 days to lodge their complaints with the Constitutional Court.

This publication of the provisional list of candidates has sparked debate and controversy over the fairness of the upcoming legislative elections in the DRC. Voters are called upon to vote responsibly and consider the backgrounds and commitments of candidates to ensure real change for the country.

In conclusion, the legislative elections in the DRC promise to be a crucial issue for the future of the country. The publication of the provisional list of admissible and inadmissible candidates provoked strong reactions from the citizen movement Dynamique Impunité Zéro and its president, Maître Grâce Tshiunza Tantamika. He calls on the Congolese people to be vigilant and to vote conscientiously for candidates capable of defending the interests of the country
