“Teachers unpaid for three months in several educational areas in the DRC”

Title: Unpaid teachers in several educational zones in the DRC

Several teachers in educational zones in the provinces of Kasai, Equateur and Grand Bandundu have not been paid for more than three months. Indeed, Caritas is responsible for paying these teachers. However, the slowness of the bank to release the money is the cause of this situation.

In a call for help launched by the Trade Union Confederation of Congo (CSC), Sylvain Nkashama, permanent CSC in the Greater Kasai area, asked the government to solve this problem. Several teachers are indeed in a difficult situation, less than a month from the end of the 2022-2023 school year.

This situation is regrettable, as it risks impacting the quality of education in the areas concerned. Teachers are the pillars of education and their well-being is essential to ensure quality education.

It is therefore important for the government to quickly take measures so that these teachers are paid and can thus resume their work in good conditions.
