“The General Inspectorate of Finance of the DRC continues its fight against corruption and embezzlement of public funds despite the acquittal of the former Minister of Health in a case of embezzlement of funds allocated to the response to the coronavirus”

The General Inspectorate of Finance (IGF) of the Democratic Republic of Congo continues its fight against corruption and embezzlement of public funds. Jules Alingete Key, Head of Department of the IGF, confirmed this desire on his Twitter account, saying that a priori control remained the best solution to protect public funds. It is in this context that the IGF had indicted the former Minister of Health, Hygiene and Prevention, Eteni Longondo, accused of embezzlement of funds allocated to the response to the coronavirus.

However, Eteni Longondo was acquitted by the Court of Cassation, the court competent to judge in first and last resort the facts attributed in particular to members of the government. If Jules Alingete Key continues to fight against these anti-values, it is also important to underline that the former Minister of Health of the government Sylvestre Ilunkamba was cleared in this affair.

The IGF therefore remains very vigilant and continues its a priori control work to fight against the embezzlement of public funds and corruption in the DRC.
