Rehabilitation of the KANANGA-KALAMBA MBUJI road – The works will be completed in August 2023, according to the Minister of Infrastructure

The Minister of State for Infrastructure, Alexis Gisaro, answered the oral question with debate concerning road infrastructure in Espace Grand Kasaï. Despite the suffering, the Minister insisted on appearing before the elected officials.

According to the information collected, he confirms that the works of the first phase of the KANANGA-KALAMBA MBUJI road rehabilitation project by TOHA INVESTMENT will end in August 2023. However, some elected officials have expressed concern about the feasibility of the commitment made. by the Minister.

The latter reassured the assembly that it is possible to get there considering that the 50 km run so far have been made during the rainy season. The continuation of the work will be carried out during the dry season which is announced, and the mobilization of three workshops will be used, after the training of the operators of the machines.

As for the designation of BCECO as Project Owner’s Delegate, this choice was made to simplify the procedures for the disbursement of funds. AfDB financing covers the construction of two bridges, but also the asphalting of the section of the RN1 Kabeya Kamuanga – Kananga and the studies to be done for the asphalting of the Kananga (Matamba) – Kalamba Mbuji axis.

Finally, all the works contracts signed have dispute resolution clauses, obliging the parties to respect their commitments under penalty of applying sanctions.

In short, this meeting of elected officials with the Minister of Infrastructure made it possible to establish the real situation of the progress of the rehabilitation project of the KANANGA-KALAMBA MBUJI road.
