Civil society, citizen movements, political organizations and independent personalities in the Democratic Republic of Congo have launched a new political platform, “Alternative Pour un Congo Nouveau”, in view of the elections held in December 2023. The press conference was organized at the Center d’Etude pour l’Action Sociale, where members of the Alternative Pour un Congo Nouveau expressed their desire to develop a governance program that would focus on the well-being of the people rather than on partisan interests.
They believe the Congolese face an increasingly uncertain future due to the recklessness and cynicism of the current political class, which they say has driven the country into bankruptcy. They are determined to end the predatory system of governance which they say is supported by most Congolese politicians. This system is based on particular and partisan interests, as well as anti-values such as corruption, embezzlement of public funds and tribalism, among others.
The Alternative for a New Congo undertakes to contribute to the responsible management of the country’s institutions by changing the paradigm of governance, to qualitatively renew the Congolese political class and to restore the dignity of Congolese people by transforming potential into wealth and distributing them fairly.
