“Congolese women make themselves heard: a record number of candidates in the legislative elections!”

The power of women is increasingly felt in the Democratic Republic of Congo, with a record number of female candidates in the upcoming legislative elections. According to official sources of the political party “Alliance pour les actions de développement du Congo” (AADC), 196 women presented themselves as candidates for national deputies throughout the country.

This figure is significant, because it places the AADC among the first eight political groupings having fielded a large number of female candidates across the country. AADC Deputy Secretary General Bertin Masansa Mankemba Kasaka explains that this alignment aims to support Congolese President Félix Tshisekedi in his quest for power.

Of the 478 candidates registered for the national legislative elections within the AADC, 273 are women. However, due to issues with late payment proofs, only 196 women could be fielded nationwide. Nevertheless, Bertin Masansa promises that 375 female candidates will be lined up at the provincial level, out of a total of 716 candidates throughout the Republic.

This strong presence of female candidates highlights the growing importance of women in Congolese politics. It is encouraging to see so many women embarking on the electoral process and trying to occupy decision-making positions in government. This testifies to a desire for change and recognition of the essential role of women in Congolese society.

It is important to support these women candidates and give them a voice to defend the interests of their communities and the country as a whole. Their active participation in political life will contribute to a more balanced representation and more inclusive decisions.

It is therefore essential to promote gender equality and continue to encourage women to enter politics. By empowering women to participate fully and actively in the governance of their country, we can ensure a more just and equitable society for all.

The political future of the Democratic Republic of the Congo depends on the commitment and participation of everyone, regardless of their gender. Let’s encourage women to take their place and contribute to the development of their country. Their leadership and vision are key to building a better and more equal future
