The IX Games of La Francophonie in Kinshasa: A resounding success for the DRC

The IX Games of La Francophonie, which took place in Kinshasa from July 28 to August 6, 2023, were a real success. More than 378 medals were awarded to athletes participating in sports competitions and cultural competitions.

The Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) particularly shone during these games, winning a total of 34 medals, including 5 gold, 11 silver and 18 bronze. This remarkable performance allowed the DRC to rank 9th overall.

In his closing speech, the Congolese Minister of Sports and Leisure, Kabulo Mwana Kabulo, welcomed these results. He stressed that the organization of the IX Games of La Francophonie had been a real success and that the mission had been accomplished.

The Minister also wished to express his apologies for the logistical problems encountered during the organization of the games. However, he thanked the Head of State and the Congolese government for their support.

These Francophonie Games have made it possible to highlight the sporting and cultural talents of the Francophonie, while promoting exchanges and cooperation between the participating countries.

Beyond the competition, these games were also an opportunity to celebrate the diversity and richness of the Francophonie, by highlighting the different cultures and languages ​​present in the participating countries.

The IX Games of La Francophonie in Kinshasa will therefore be remembered as a major event, which made it possible to promote the Francophonie and to highlight the talents of French-speaking athletes and artists
